The Chimpanzee and Wildlife Lodge

The renowned Kyambura Gorge Lodge in Uganda sits on the edge of the magical Kyambura Gorge, a sunken rainforest and home to the ‘Lost Chimps of Kyambura’. Built as part of the Kyambura Gorge Ecotourism project, the lodge has been converted from a coffee store to create a breathtakingly beautiful space, with sweeping views of the rolling savanna and the distant Rwenzori Mountains.

The bandas have an afro-chic theme with an accent on re-imagined local artifacts, with wonderful views across the savanna or over the gorge. Relax and enjoy the spa and swimming pool with beautiful views of the park.

Walk from the lodge along the Fig Tree Trail to start your trek into the gorge to look for the ‘Lost Chimps of Kyambura‘, an isolated group of chimpanzees living in the steep sided sunken gorge.

New walking safaris have been created around the lodge to experience the dramatic landscapes of Kyambura and the Queen Elizabeth savannah. Go birding with our wildlife guides to the Kyambura reclaimed wetland and plant a seedling in the Kyambura Gorge buffer zone, created to safeguard the fragile Kyambura Gorge ecosystem.

Join in with a carnivore census with the Kyambura Lion Monitoring Team during your stay and learn about conservation issues in and around the park. Enjoy a wonderful wildlife boat ride on the Kazinga Channel and spot some of the six hundred amazing bird species in Queen Elizabeth National Park, the highest in an African park.
